Web 3.0 or Web3 is a worldwide web ecosystem that is established on blockchain technology. The term "Web3" was coined by Gavin Wood in 2014. Web3 is an upgraded version of the current internet and has become mainstream in recent years. 

One reason is that Web3 decentralizes the power from the hands of corporations to individuals on the internet. Another reason Web3 is so popular is that users have greater control over their privacy and data. However, there is a downside of Web3 as regulating cyber crimes might prove difficult. Even so, the number of people online who advocates for Web3 increases as corporations collect and sell private data without permission.
