Proof of Stake

/pruːf əv steɪk/

Proof of Stake (PoS) is a consensus algorithm or mechanism used to validate blocks in a blockchain. PoS method validates blocks by the number of coins "staked" by participants.

Likewise, validators will receive block rewards based on the number of coins held as well. The staking approach saves energy as it removes the need for resource-intensive mining.

Moreover, PoS encourages stakeholders to act in the best interests of the network, as they risk losing their staked funds for malicious or fraudulent behavior.
