Encryption

/ɪnˈkrɪpʃən/noun

Encryption is a process of converting readable data into an encoded and unreadable form.  Encryption helps to ensure confidentiality and data security.

An encryption algorithm and a secret key transform the original information into ciphertext. The information would then need to be authorized by parties possessing the corresponding decryption key to be deciphered back into its original form.

Encryption safeguards sensitive data from:-

  • Unauthorized access
  • Interception
  • Tampering during transmission or storage

Encryption is a vital mechanism to protect confidentiality and maintain the integrity of information.
